Corned beef, green beer, bagpipes, oh my! It’s that time of the year again. St. Patrick’s Day. A day to eat, drink and be merry, and there’s no better place to partake in it all than Downtown Sac!
Experience some vibrant Irish spirit (BAGPIPES people, BAGPIPES) at the 20th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Old Sacramento on Saturday, March 12. The historic streets will fill with nearly one thousand marchers, Irish and Highland dancers, pipe and drum bands, historic re-enactors, and a variety of cultural organizations all clad in every shade of green.
While you’re in Old Sac, head over to the Delta King for Corned Beef Hash and live music or stop by Fat City Bar & Cafe for a cold brew and some tasty grub.

Want to get your heart pumping after consuming all that tasty Irish fare? Join the crew of colorful racers in the Shamrock’n Half Marathon on Sunday, March 13 – or just cheer ’em on with a brew in hand, we won’t judge. Expect a sea of green tutus and leaping leprechauns at this spirited community event, motivated significantly by the promise of beer parties post-jaunt. Bonus points to those who show up race-ready having remembered to set their clocks forward for daylight saving. Looming Half Marathon + losing an hour + Saturday night Guinness consumption…ROUGH.

Looking for day-of entertainment on Thursday? de Vere’s Irish Pub will be hosting their annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party in conjunction with Firestone Public House and Mix Downtown on March 17. Start off at de Vere’s at 9 a.m. with Irish Coffee, stroll down to Firestone Public House at 11 a.m. for Irish libations, then head to Mix Downtown at 2 p.m. for Corned Beef Sliders, Guinness Draught, Irish Car Bombs, and Jameson Irish Whiskey at the bar.
