Broadway may be a New York institution, but the Sacramento stage is no stranger to notable musical theatre productions and this spring Broadway Sacramento has a lineup that will rock your socks off. Yes, rock. The British Invasion is back with RAIN: A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES.

Other than your best shower belting, when was the last time you revisited the magic of the Fabulous Four? Too long, people, far too long. Step into the glorious past with a live multi-media theatrical event that will take you through the life and times of the legendary foursome with hits like Come Together, Hey Jude, and I Want To Hold Your Hand. You know there’s gonna be some serious knee-tapping in that joint.

One of our DSP staff, Shea GuntherMaher, got a chance to see opening night of RAIN. Here’s what she had to say:

FullSizeRender“John Lennon is back, baby! Well, at least it felt like it after seeing the musical RAIN: A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES. I brought my pops to see the show since we share a deep love for music and he grew up playing vinyl records of the Fab Four. And, turns out, he was in good company as most of the audience was filled with Baby Boomers raised with the beloved British tunes.

As I cozied up next to my nostalgic dad and watched the cast perform famous Beatles songs with impeccable tonality and charming Liverpool accents, I truly felt like I was stepping into the past, and a groovy one at that. There were many times during the show when excited fans stood up to sing along, wave their arms and, yes, their enthusiastic peace signs.  Peace and love vibes warmed up the entire theater, it was glorious.

I was actually disappointed when the production came to a close. Jolted back to 2015, I wished I could stay in the 60’s with those rockin’ tunes and funky outfits. But thankfully, quality music like that lives on and will be enjoyed by generations to come. So, here’s to dusting off those old vinyls (or digitally remastered mp3s) and shamelessly dancing to “Come Together” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” in your underwear. OR…fully-clothed at the Community Center Theater. Whatever moves your groove.”
