PARK(ING) Day comes to #DowntownSac

Kathryn DeGroot

Sacramento United Parking Day is back and better than ever! After taking a year off, PARK(ING) Day has made a comeback in the heart of the city and will transform 9th Street on September 16.

Never heard of PARK(ING) Day? Here’s the scoop: PARK(ING) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers, and citizens transform metered parking spots into a series of temporary ‘parklets.’ Downtown Sacramento is pulsing with an energy that hasn’t been seen in decades, PARK(ING) Day will be held in #DowntownSac to demonstrate the creative design solutions that enhance the pedestrian experience. Sacramento’s creative community will transform 9th Street between J and K Streets into parklets that encourage people to play in an urban environment.

Participants have been tasked with incorporating PLAY into their parklets in some way, shape, or form. We encourage you to come out on 9/16 to see the creative concepts in real life. For now, take a look at some inspiration and see what other people have done to demonstrate PLAY in parklet form.
